Built by the community and neighbors in Philadelphia, The Spring Gardens is a lovely space where their goal is to help families by growing food and flowers for themselves and the community.
Once an abandoned lot, in 1995, the community of Spring Gardens decided to come together with the help of their Councilman Darrell Clarke, and revive this piece of land into an enriched garden with raised beds, fresh soil, and materials to maintain the property.
Events
The garden functions as an outdoor classroom that holds cooking classes, gardening lessons, school education tours, field bike tours, and offers student interns, tourists, and voluntary groups interactive learning.
The Park provides an assortment of family-friendly community events that are always open to the public. Currently, the Park is offering Lumos Yoga classes in the garden at select times available online.
Membership & Volunteer Services
The Park offers the community a chance to be a part of the Spring Gardens. What the entails are a small annual fee, where you’ll get a plot size and the ability to plant fruits and vegetables of your liking. Once you have your garden plot, you can watch your portion of the garden grow and harvest once available.
This is only available for Philadelphia residents who live in the garden boundaries, so check online to see if you’ll qualify. The waiting list can go up to two years, so grab your spot in line now if you’re interested.
