Our Top Food Spots in West Philly
This list presenting some of our favorite dining spots is brought to you by our team of experienced West Philly slip and fall lawyers.
West Philly doesn’t get as much attention for its food scene as other Philadelphia neighborhoods, particularly those in the Center City area. However, in this region there are not only some nationally-renowned universities and more than a handful of activities to involve the whole family, but also some incredible restaurants more than worthy of praise. Below, we share some of our team’s top picks when in this part of the city.
Copabanana University City
Copabanana University City has become a Penn institution with its genuine campus vibe. With ceiling to floor windows and a sidewalk cafe overlooking the campus scene, the Copa is also a popular destination for the nearby Penn hospital complex. Open late seven days a week, the Copa serves legendary margaritas, gourmet burgers and Spanish fries.
You’ll also find food and drink specials geared to a student’s budget, including happy hour on Mon-Thurs from 5PM-7PM, half-price mojitos on Thursdays, half-price burgers on Wednesdays, brunch on the weekends and much more! Copa is a true original and a refreshing oasis in a sea of bland corporate chain restaurants.
City Tap House – University City (West Philly)
From India Pale to Berliner Weisse, Fruited Wheats to Barrel-Aged Stouts, the world of craft beer is rich with variety and innovation. With so much beer to try, entering this world can feel overwhelming for those unfamiliar with it. But one of the City Tap House’s goals is to make it accessible to all namely by categorizing all their options by style and flavor profile. For the City Tap House, “craft is everything”. And while for many, the term craft can refer to obfuscated things, for them it speaks to their complex and innovative beers. It also includes their delectable food, which inspires and surprises. Likewise, their service is top of the line, delighting and exceeding expectations.
Naturally, their food options are also prepared craftily, with equal parts precision and patience. Led by their Executive Chef Ian Branning, the menu blends personal expertise with regional traditions to make something daring and refreshing. Located at 3925 Walnut Street, the City Tap House is open Monday to Sunday from around 11:30AM until midnight.
